The RIDE Contest (the “Contest”) offers eligible BIXI Montréal account holders the chance to win a prize pool provided by Wealthsimple with a maximum value of $150,000, subject to and in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in these official rules (the “Rules”).
NO PURCHASE REQUIRED. THE CONTEST IS OPEN ONLY TO RESIDENTS OF QUEBEC AND SHALL BE GOVERNED AND INTERPRETED IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE LAWS. VOID IN WHOLE OR IN PART WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW. BY ENTERING THE CONTEST, EACH ENTRANT CONFIRMS HAVING READ, UNDERSTOOD AND AGREED TO THESE RULES.
1. CONTEST ORGANIZER AND PRIZE PROVIDER
1.1 The Contest is organized and administered by BIXI Montréal, whose registered office is located at 5945 de Gaspé Avenue, Montréal, Québec H2S 2X4 (the “Organizer” or “BIXI Montréal”).
1.2 The prize is provided by Wealthsimple Technologies Inc., a money services business whose registered office is located at 400-80 Spadina Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M5V 2J4, and its affiliated entities (collectively, “Wealthsimple” or the “Prize Provider”).
2. ELIGIBILITY
2.1 The Contest begins on May 1, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. (EDT) and ends on October 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (EDT) (the “Eligibility Period”).
2.2 To be eligible to enter the Contest, an individual must: a) hold an active BIXI Montréal account in good standing, meaning an account that is not suspended or terminated and to which a valid payment method is associated; b) be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident; c) be a resident of Canada; d) have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence; and e) fulfill the participation conditions set out in these Rules.
2.3 Co-subscribers sharing a single BIXI account are eligible to participate on the same basis as any other entrant, provided each co-subscriber holds their own active BIXI Montréal account in good standing within the meaning of section 2.1(a). Each co-subscriber is treated individually: their trips are attributed personally to them and generate entries in their name.
2.4 The following individuals are excluded from the Contest: a) employees, management and board members of BIXI Montréal, their co-subscribers, and employees, management and board members of Wealthsimple, their parent companies, subsidiaries and related entities, their advertising and promotional agencies, including independent suppliers retained for the promotion of the Contest; and b) immediate family members of the persons referred to in paragraph (a), namely their spouse, their first-degree ascendants and descendants and those of their spouse, their siblings, and any person sharing their household.
2.5 Participation in the Contest is free and does not require any purchase beyond the usual BIXI subscription or payment method.
2.6 Wealthsimple and BIXI Montréal may at any time require proof of identity or eligibility. Any individual who refuses to provide such proof may be disqualified. All information provided in connection with the Contest must be truthful, complete and accurate. BIXI Montréal and Wealthsimple reserve the right to disqualify any entrant who provides inaccurate or misleading information.
3. ENTRY AND PARTICIPATION
3.1 Mandatory Registration. To enter the Contest, eligible individuals must (a) complete the registration form available online on the BIXI Montréal website (bixi.com) using the email address associated with their account, and (b) validate their registration by clicking on the confirmation link sent to the email address provided.
3.2 Base Entry. Any eligible individual who completes their registration automatically receives one (1) entry in the Contest.
3.3 Additional Entries. In addition to the base entry, each BIXI trip duly completed and recorded in the BIXI Montréal system during the Eligibility Period entitles the entrant to one (1) additional entry in the Contest. Trips completed prior to the entrant’s registration date will be counted retroactively. A trip is considered valid when both the departure and return of the bicycle have been confirmed in the BIXI Montréal system, in accordance with the BIXI terms of service in force.
3.4 The following are excluded from the entry count: a) cancelled or incomplete trips, including where the bicycle was not returned within the time limits set out in the BIXI Montréal terms of service; b) trips completed outside the Eligibility Period; and c) trips obtained fraudulently or in a manner contrary to the BIXI Montréal terms of service.
3.5 BIXI Montréal reserves the right to verify the accuracy of any entry count and to determine the final number of entries attributed to each entrant. BIXI Montréal’s decisions regarding the entry count are final and binding.
4. PRIZE
4.1 For every one hundred (100) cumulative trips recorded across the entire BIXI Montréal network during the Eligibility Period, Wealthsimple will contribute one dollar ($1.00) to a cumulative prize pool (the “Prize Pool”). The Contest winner will be entitled to receive the total value of the Prize Pool, which will be deposited into a Wealthsimple account in their name (the “Prize”).
4.2 The maximum value of the Prize Pool is $150,000.00, equivalent to 15,000,000 cumulative trips. The count is cumulative and continuous throughout the Eligibility Period. For reference, during the period from May 1 to October 31, 2025, 12,447,874 cumulative trips were recorded, which would have corresponded to a Prize Pool of $124,479.00.
4.3 The value of the Prize Pool is displayed on the BIXI Montréal website for informational purposes only. The displayed value may not reflect the exact real-time amount. The final amount of the Prize Pool will be calculated at the end of the Eligibility Period and will constitute the actual value of the Prize. The odds of winning vary as the total number of eligible entries recorded increases during the Eligibility Period. A personalized block integrated into the BIXI Montréal bi-monthly newsletter will indicate to each entrant the number of entries accumulated in their name and the current value of the Prize Pool.
5. SELECTION OF THE WINNER
5.1 The winner will be selected by a supervised electronic random draw on or around November 2, 2026, in the presence of an independent witness or designated representative, from all eligible entries recorded during the Eligibility Period.
5.2 Within 2 business days following the draw date, BIXI Montréal will contact the potential winner at the email address associated with their BIXI account. The selected winner must acknowledge receipt of the notification and complete all required steps for the award of the Prize, including completing a declaration and release form.
5.3 To be declared a winner, the selected individual must have complied with these Rules and, within 7 business days following notification of the Prize: a) provide a valid government-issued identification for the purpose of verifying their eligibility; b) correctly answer, without mechanical or other assistance, a mathematical skill-testing question; and c) complete the declaration and release form upon request.
5.4 If the selected winner fails to acknowledge receipt within 7 days of Prize notification, refuses to submit to identity verification, or fails the mathematical skill-testing question, they will be deemed to have forfeited the Prize. A new draw will be conducted following the same procedure until an eligible winner is confirmed.
5.5 Wealthsimple may, independently and to the extent required by law, conduct its own verifications in connection with the award of the Prize. Such steps are the exclusive responsibility of Wealthsimple and are separate from this process.
6. PRIZE AWARD
6.1 To be eligible to receive the Prize, the selected winner must, at the time of the award: a) hold an active Wealthsimple account in good standing in their name, or open one within 30 days following Prize notification; and b) provide the email address associated with that Wealthsimple account.
6.2 If the selected winner does not hold a Wealthsimple account or fails to open one within the 30-day period referred to above, they will be deemed to have forfeited the Prize, and a new draw may be conducted at the Organizer’s discretion.
6.3 Holding a Wealthsimple account is a condition of Prize delivery. The account opening process may include: a) the collection of personal information by Wealthsimple (identity, address, financial information) in accordance with its privacy policy; and b) verifications conducted in accordance with Wealthsimple’s legal obligations, including under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act and applicable financial sector legislation. These verifications are the exclusive responsibility of Wealthsimple.If the selected winner does not meet Wealthsimple’s account opening criteria, a new winner will be selected. 6.4 Once the Prize has been deposited into their Wealthsimple account, the winner may use the funds at their discretion, subject to the terms and conditions applicable to the relevant Wealthsimple account.
6.5 The Prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable prior to deposit, and must be accepted as awarded. It has no cash exchange value prior to deposit into the designated Wealthsimple account and may not be substituted.
6.6 The winner is responsible for all fees, taxes and costs associated with accepting and enjoying the Prize, including, without limitation, any tax obligations arising from the receipt of the Prize. No fees related to the opening or use of the Wealthsimple account required to receive the Prize will be charged to the winner.
6.7 Wealthsimple reserves the right, for any reason and at its sole discretion, to modify the Prize or replace it with another of equal or greater value.
7. PRIVACY
7.1 By entering the Contest, each entrant consents and confirms their acceptance that BIXI Montréal may collect, use and disclose their personal information, specifically their name, email address, government-issued identification (e.g., driver’s licence, passport), BIXI trips and any other personal information required by BIXI Montréal under these Rules, in accordance with this section. Each entrant also confirms that the provisions of this section apply in addition to any other BIXI Montréal Privacy Policy relating to the use of the BIXI Montréal website (bixi.com) (the “Site”), the BIXI Montréal mobile application or its services.
7.2 BIXI Montréal will use the entrant’s personal information solely for the following purposes: (a) activating their participation in the Contest; (b) counting eligible BIXI trips; (c) verifying their identity and eligibility for the Contest; (d) administering the Contest; (e) awarding the Prize (if applicable); (f) if they have consented, sending them newsletters; and (g) any other purpose identified by BIXI Montréal that is authorized by law or for which it obtains the consent of the individual concerned. BIXI Montréal will also use the winner’s personal information, specifically their name, city of residence and Contest-related statements, where applicable, for advertising purposes as mentioned above.
7.3 Entrants’ personal information will be disclosed to Wealthsimple, to BIXI Montréal staff whose duties require it, and to BIXI Montréal’s service providers (e.g., hosting service providers) only to the extent necessary for the purposes set out herein. Such information may also be disclosed by BIXI Montréal in compliance with applicable law or a court order.
7.4 The personal information collected will be stored on secure servers that may be located outside of Québec, including elsewhere in Canada and in the United States.
7.5 Reasonable administrative, technical and physical measures are implemented by BIXI Montréal to protect the personal information it collects against accidental loss, theft, and unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. BIXI Montréal also puts in place protective measures with Wealthsimple and its service providers in compliance with applicable law.
7.6 Subject to applicable law, entrants have certain rights, including: a) the right to request access to their personal information; b) the right to request the correction of their personal information that is inaccurate or incomplete; c) the right to withdraw their consent to the disclosure or use of their personal information, in certain circumstances; and d) the right to obtain, in a structured, commonly used technological format, their computerized personal information that was provided, or to request that it be transmitted to another person or organization in that same format.
7.7 BIXI Montréal’s privacy officer is its Executive Director. To exercise any of the rights described above or to file a complaint against BIXI Montréal’s practices, entrants may contact BIXI Montréal’s privacy officer at: info@bixi.com or by mail at 5945 de Gaspé Avenue, Montréal, Québec H2S 2X4.
7.8 Personal information collected in connection with the Contest will be retained for the duration of the Contest and the period necessary to award the Prize, plus a maximum period of six (6) months thereafter. Personal information will then be securely destroyed or anonymized, unless BIXI Montréal is required to retain it to comply with its legal obligations.
7.9 Any winner who accepts a Prize consents to BIXI Montréal and Wealthsimple using their name, city of residence and Contest-related statements for advertising purposes, without compensation, notice or further permission, to the extent permitted by law.
8. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY AND EXCLUSIONS
8.1 BIXI Montréal reserves the right to modify, suspend or cancel the Contest, in whole or in part, in the event of force majeure, an unforeseen technical event, proven fraud or any circumstance beyond its control that prevents the proper administration of the Contest, without incurring any liability whatsoever toward entrants.
8.2 BIXI Montréal and Wealthsimple shall not be liable for technical problems affecting the recording of trips, the transmission of entries, the operation of the BIXI website or application, or errors or omissions in the calculation or display of entries.
8.3 By entering the Contest, each entrant releases BIXI Montréal, Wealthsimple and their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliated companies, related entities, employees, board members, management, suppliers and agents (the “Releasees”) from any liability for injuries, losses or damages of any nature arising directly or indirectly from participation in the Contest or from the acceptance, possession or use of the Prize, except to the extent that such release is prohibited by law.
8.4 BIXI Montréal and Wealthsimple reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant who has: a) violated these Rules or any condition relating to the BIXI service, the BIXI Montréal website or its mobile application; b) tampered with or attempted to tamper with the entry process; c) used an automated, robotic or script- or macro-based entry method; or d) acted unfairly, disruptively or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass another person.
9. GENERAL PROVISIONS
9.1 Participation in the Contest constitutes full acceptance of these Rules.
9.2 These Rules are governed by the laws applicable in the Province of Québec. Any dispute relating to the Contest is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Québec.
9.3 In the event of any discrepancy between the French version and the English version of these Rules, the French version shall prevail.
9.4 The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Rules does not affect the validity of the remainder of the Rules.
9.5 These Rules will be made publicly available on the BIXI Montréal website prior to any public launch of the Contest.
9.6 All amounts mentioned in these Rules are stated in Canadian dollars.
9.7 The decisions of BIXI Montréal and Wealthsimple regarding the interpretation of these Rules, the eligibility of entries and the selection of winners are final and binding.
