The RIDE Contest (the “Contest”) offers eligible BIXI Montréal account holders the chance to win a prize pool provided by Wealthsimple with a maximum value of $150,000, subject to and in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in these official contest rules (the “Rules”).
NO PURCHASE REQUIRED. THE CONTEST SHALL TAKE PLACE SOLELY IN THE PROVINCE OF QUÉBEC AND SHALL BE GOVERNED BY AND CONSTRUED IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE LAWS. VOID IN WHOLE OR IN PART WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW. BY ENTERING THE CONTEST, PARTICIPANTS CONFIRM HAVING READ, UNDERSTOOD AND ACCEPTED THESE RULES.
1. ORGANIZER AND PRIZE PROVIDER
1.1 The Contest is organized and administered by BIXI Montréal, headquartered at 5945 avenue de Gaspé, Montréal, Québec H2S 2X4 (the “Organizer” or “BIXI Montréal”).
1.2 The prize is provided by Wealthsimple Technologies Inc., a money-services business headquartered at 400-80 Spadina Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M5V 2J4, and its affiliated entities (collectively, “Wealthsimple” or the “Prize Provider”).
2. ELIGIBILITY
2.1 The Contest runs from May 1, 2026 at 12:00 a.m. (EDT) to October 31, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. (EDT) (the “Eligibility Period”).
2.2 To be eligible to enter this Contest, you must:
(a) hold an active BIXI Montréal account in good standing, meaning an account that is neither suspended nor terminated and for which a valid payment method has been added; (b) be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident; (c) reside in Canada; (d) have reached the legal age of majority in the province or territory where you live; (e) satisfy the entry requirements set out in these Rules.
2.3 Co-members sharing a single BIXI account are eligible to enter the Contest under the same conditions as other entrants if each has their own active BIXI Montréal profile under an account in good standing as defined in Section 2.2(a). Each co-member is treated individually: their trips are assigned to them personally and generate entries in their name.
2.4 The following are not eligible to enter the Contest: (a) employees, officers, and directors of BIXI Montréal and their co-members, and employees, officers, and directors of Wealthsimple, including their parent companies, subsidiaries, and related entities, as well as advertising and promotional agencies, including independent contractors, promoting the Contest; (b) the immediate family members of those listed in (a), namely their spouses, their direct ascendants and descendants and those of their spouses, their siblings, and any person residing at the same address.
2.5 Entering the Contest is free. No purchase is required beyond your usual BIXI membership or payment method.
2.6 Wealthsimple and BIXI Montréal may request proof of identity or eligibility at any time. If you refuse to provide such proof, you may be disqualified. All information provided for the purposes of the Contest must be truthful, complete, and accurate. BIXI Montréal and Wealthsimple reserve the right to disqualify anyone who provides inaccurate or misleading information.
3. ENTRY AND PARTICIPATION
3.1 Mandatory Registration. To enter the Contest, you must (a) fill out the registration form available on the BIXI Montréal website (bixi.com) using the email address associated with your account, and (b) validate your registration by clicking the confirmation link sent to the email address you provide.
3.2 Base Entry. Any eligible person who completes the registration will automatically receive one (1) Contest entry.
3.3 Additional Entries. In addition to the base entry, each BIXI trip that is properly completed and recorded in the BIXI Montréal system during the Eligibility Period entitles you to one (1) additional Contest entry. Trips completed before your registration date will be counted retroactively. A trip is considered eligible when both the bike’s rental and return have been confirmed in the BIXI Montréal system, in accordance with the current BIXI Terms and Conditions.
3.4 The following are excluded from the entry counts: (a) cancelled or incomplete trips, including when the bike is not returned within the time limits set out in the BIXI Montréal Terms and Conditions; (b) trips completed outside the Eligibility Period; (c) trips obtained fraudulently or in violation of the BIXI Montréal Terms and Conditions.
3.5 BIXI Montréal reserves the right to verify the accuracy of any entry count and to determine the final number of entries awarded to each entrant. BIXI Montréal’s decisions regarding entry counts are final and binding.
4. PRIZE
4.1 For every one hundred (100) cumulative trips recorded across the entire BIXI Montréal network during the Eligibility Period, Wealthsimple will contribute one dollar ($1.00) to a cumulative prize pool (the “Prize Pool”). The Contest winner will receive the full value of the Prize Pool, paid into a Wealthsimple account in their name (the “Prize”).
4.2 The maximum value of the Prize Pool is $150,000.00, which is equivalent to 15,000,000 cumulative trips. The trip count is cumulative and continuous throughout the Eligibility Period. For reference, during the period from May 1 to October 31, 2025, 12,447,874 trips were recorded, which would have corresponded to a Prize Pool of $124,479.00.
4.3 The value of the Prize Pool is displayed on the BIXI Montréal website for informational purposes only. The displayed value may not reflect the exact real-time amount. The final value of the Prize Pool will be determined at the end of the Eligibility Period and will constitute the actual value of the Prize. Your odds of winning will vary as the total number of eligible entries recorded increases during the Eligibility Period. A personalized section in the BIXI Montréal newsletter will show each entrant the number of entries collected in their name, as well as the current value of the Prize Pool.
5. SELECTION OF THE WINNER
5.1 The winner will be selected by a supervised electronic random draw on or around November 2, 2026, in the presence of an independent witness or designated representative, from among all eligible entries received during the Eligibility Period.
5.2 Within 2 business days of the draw date, BIXI Montréal will contact the selected winner at the email address associated with their BIXI account. The selected winner must acknowledge receipt of the notification and complete all required steps to receive the Prize, including filling out a declaration and release form.
5.3 To be declared the winner, the selected winner must have complied with these Rules and, within 7 business days following notification of the Prize: (a) provide a valid government-issued ID for the purpose of verifying their eligibility; (b) correctly answer, without mechanical or other assistance, a mathematical skill-testing question; and (c) complete the declaration and release form upon request.
5.4 If the selected winner fails to acknowledge receipt within 7 business days following notification of the Prize, refuses to submit to identity verification, or fails the mathematical skill-testing question, they will be deemed to have forfeited the Prize. A new draw will be conducted using the same procedure until an eligible winner is confirmed.
5.5 Wealthsimple may, independently and to the extent required by law, conduct its own verification checks in connection with the awarding of the Prize. Such steps are the sole responsibility of Wealthsimple and are separate from the process outlined here.
6. PRIZE AWARD
6.1 To be eligible to receive the Prize, the selected winner must, at the time of the award: (a) hold an active Wealthsimple account in good standing in their name, or open one within 30 days following notification of the Prize; and (b) provide the email address associated with that Wealthsimple account.
6.2 If the selected winner does not have a Wealthsimple account or does not open one within the aforementioned 30-day period, they will be deemed to have forfeited the Prize, and a new draw may be conducted at the Organizer’s discretion.
6.3 Holding a Wealthsimple account is required to claim the Prize. Opening an account may involve, among other things: (a) the collection of personal information by Wealthsimple (such as your name, address, and financial information) in accordance with its privacy policy; (b) verifications conducted in accordance with Wealthsimple’s legal obligations, including those under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act and applicable financial sector legislation. These verifications are the sole responsibility of Wealthsimple. If the selected winner does not meet Wealthsimple’s account opening criteria, a new winner will be selected. 6.4 Once the Prize has been deposited into their Wealthsimple account, the winner may use the funds as they see fit, subject to the terms and conditions for the relevant Wealthsimple account.
6.5 The Prize is non-exchangeable. It is non-transferable and has no cash value before being depositedinto the designated Wealthsimple account and must be accepted as awarded with no substitutions.
6.6 The winner is responsible for all fees, taxes, and costs associated with claiming and using the Prize, including, but not limited to, any tax liability arising from receipt of the Prize. The winner will not be required to pay any fees for opening or using the Wealthsimple account required to receive the Prize.
6.7 Wealthsimple reserves the right, for any reason and at its sole discretion, to modify the Prize or replace it with another of equal or greater value.
7. PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
7.1 By entering the Contest, you agree and consent to BIXI Montréal collecting, using and disclosing your personal information, specifically your name, email address, government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s licence, passport), BIXI trips and any other personal information required by BIXI Montréal under these Rules, in accordance with this section. You also agree that the provisions of this section apply in addition to any other BIXI Montréal Privacy Policy concerning the use of the BIXI Montréal website (bixi.com) (the “Site”), the BIXI Montréal mobile app or its services.
7.2 BIXI Montréal will use your personal information solely for the following purposes: (a) activating your registration in the Contest; (b) counting your eligible BIXI trips; (c) verifying your identity and Contest eligibility; (d) administering the Contest; (e) awarding you the Prize (if applicable); (f) sending you newsletters, if you have consented to receiving them; and (g) any other purpose identified by BIXI Montréal that is authorized by law or for which it has obtained your consent. BIXI Montréal will also use the winner’s personal information, specifically their name, city of residence and any statements about the Contest, for advertising purposes as mentioned above.
7.3 Your personal information will be disclosed to Wealthsimple, to BIXI Montréal employees whose duties require it, and to BIXI Montréal’s service providers (e.g., hosting service providers) only to the extent necessary for the purposes set out herein. Such information may also be disclosed by BIXI Montréal in compliance with a law or a court order.
7.4 The personal information collected will be stored on secure servers that may be located outside Québec, including elsewhere in Canada or in the United States.
7.5 BIXI Montréal has reasonable administrative, technical and physical measures in place to protect the personal information it collects against accidental loss, theft, and any unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification. BIXI Montréal also works with Wealthsimple and its service providers to implement protective measures in compliance with the law.
7.6 Your rights under the applicable law include: (a) the right to access your personal information; (b) the right to have your personal information corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete; (c) the right to withdraw consent to the disclosure or use of your personal information, subject to certain restrictions; and (d) the right to obtain the digital personal information you have provided in a structured, commonly-used technological format or to have it transmitted to another person or organization in that same format.

7.8 Personal information collected for the Contest will be retained for the duration of the Contest and the time needed to award the Prize, plus a maximum of six (6) months thereafter. It will then be securely destroyed or anonymized, unless BIXI Montréal has a legal obligation to retain it.
7.9 A winner who accepts a Prize consents to BIXI Montréal and Wealthsimple using their name, city of residence and statements about the Contest for advertising purposes, without compensation, notice or further permission, to the extent permitted by law.
8. EXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY
8.1 BIXI Montréal reserves the right to modify, suspend or cancel the Contest, in whole or in part, in the event of force majeure, an unforeseen technical event, proven fraud or any circumstance beyond its control that prevents the proper administration of the Contest, without incurring any liability whatsoever toward entrants.
8.2 BIXI Montréal and Wealthsimple cannot be held liable for technical problems affecting the recording of trips, the reporting of entries, operation of the BIXI website or app, or errors or omissions in the calculation or display of entries.
8.3 By entering the Contest, you release BIXI Montréal, Wealthsimple and their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, related entities, employees, directors, officers, suppliers and agents (the “Releasees”) from any liability for injury, loss or damage of any nature arising directly or indirectly from participation in the Contest or from the acceptance, possession or use of the Prize, except to the extent that such waiver is prohibited by law.
8.4 BIXI Montréal and Wealthsimple reserve the right, at their sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant who has: (a) violated these Rules or any condition attached to the BIXI service, the BIXI Montréal website or its mobile app; (b) tampered with or attempted to tamper with the entry process; (c) used an automated, robotic or script- or macro-generated entry method; or (d) acted unfairly, disruptively or with the intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass another person.
9. GENERAL PROVISIONS
9.1 Participation in the Contest constitutes full acceptance of these Rules.
9.2 These Rules are governed by the laws applicable in the Province of Québec. Any dispute relating to the Contest will be under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Québec.
9.3 In the event of any discrepancy between the French and English versions of these Rules, the French version prevails.
9.4 The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Rules does not affect the validity of the remainder of the Rules.
9.5 These Rules will be made publicly available on the BIXI Montréal website prior to any public launch of the Contest.
9.6 All amounts mentioned in these Rules are in Canadian dollars.
9.7 The decisions of BIXI Montréal and Wealthsimple regarding the interpretation of these Rules, the eligibility of entries and the selection of winners are final and binding.
