April 15 marked the first official day of BIXI Montréal’s 2019 season! Montreal riders can now hop onto one of the more than 7,250 BIXI bikes when going to the metro, to work, or anywhere else they need to go!
Five new boroughs added for 2019
BIXI is expanding its territory with five new boroughs – Lachine, Montréal-Nord, Anjou, Saint-Léonard and Saint-Laurent – for a total of 16 boroughs. The newest BIXI riders will share the road with those from Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension, Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie, Plateau-Mont-Royal, Verdun, Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Longueuil and Westmount. The territory now has 600 stations and an additional 1,000 bikes. All these new additions are meant to both consolidate the network as a whole and meet the ever-growing demand. The City of Montreal renewed its agreement for the next 10 years, showing its commitment to make bike-sharing available to all Montrealers and become a leader in integrated mobility.
Flexible fares
Everyone can find a fare that suits their needs–whether they need a one-way, one-day or three-day pass, a 30-day membership or a one-year membership, or 10 one-way fares, we’ve got it all! OPUS card holders can rent a BIXI for $2 (discounted OPUS card fare) or $2.50 (regular OPUS card fare). To take advantage of the OPUS card fares, users must first register online.
A useful app
With the mobile app, it’s easy to find out how many bikes and bike docks are available at each station, view your usage stats and even renew your membership in advance. You can even use it to earn rewards with the AMIS BIXI program. Have you downloaded the BIXI app?
AMIS BIXI to the rescue!
The AMIS BIXI are BIXI riders who help make bikes and bike docks more available for other riders, while earning rewards along the way. Points are earned by renting bikes from crowded stations and bringing them back to stations that need more bikes. Each point goes toward a monthly total, which can then be exchanged for various rewards for you or your friends. Download the app and take part in the AMIS BIXI program by enabling it in your profile.
Monthly contests
Let your inner photographer emerge while visiting museums in May, admiring murals in June, doing yoga in the parks in July, enjoying picnics with friends in August, sipping delicious coffees in September and going to the movies in October, and share your best snaps on social media to get the chance to win different prizes every month!
Free BIXI Sundays by Manulife
For a fourth year, our partner Manulife will hold the free BIXI Sundays. On the last Sunday of the month, from May until October, BIXI rides will be free for Montrealers and visitors to explore the city.
