A Colourful June with BIXI and the MURAL Festival!

What would Montreal be without its murals? Over time, Montreal has become a world-wide phenomenon in modern street art. This June, BIXI is partnering with the MURAL Festival and invites you to discover this large outdoor exhibit!

Free BIXI Sundays, offered by Manuvie

Sunday June 30 will be the next popular Free BIXI Sunday, presented by Manuvie. You can take a free BIXI out for as many rides as you want, for up to 30 minutes each.

Plus, for every trip you take on a Heartbeat Bike BIXI, Manuvie will donate $1 to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Be sure to talk with the Manuvie valets at the various stations… some of them will have surprises for you!

Rachelle Béry will also be offering snacks and drinks at certain stations. Yum!

// HOW IT WORKS //

1- To rent a bicycle, download the BIXI app or head to a pay station at one of the 600 BIXI stations anytime between 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m.

2- Create your profile in the app or insert your credit card into the pay station, then select “One Way $0” and follow the instructions. *A $20 deposit will be held per bike.

3- Enter the code you get after completing the transaction on the keyboard located to the left of the bike dock for the BIXI you’ve chosen.

4- Head out to explore Montreal for 30 minutes max. Fees will apply if you spend more than the allocated time.

5- Return your BIXI to any station and start another trip as many times as you want.

The MURAL Festival Brings Saint-Laurent Boulevard to Life!

From June 6 to 16, the MURAL Festival will take over the Saint-Laurent Boulevard between Sherbrooke and Mont-Royal, highlighting street art in its many forms. You’re used to seeing the murals created in previous MURAL Festivals, but did you know that new murals appear each year? Take a look at the dynamic map to get your bearings more easily. Are you taking pictures of the murals? Mention the artist when you post it, to honour the artists’ work!

Part of the Saint-Laurent Boulevard will be closed to traffic, but you can easily travel along neighbouring streets, using the bike lane on Clark. There are about a dozen stations nearby, which can be found using the mobile BIXI app.

Whenever you feel the urge, you can hop on a BIXI this summer and take in some of Montreal’s street art, found throughout the city’s different neighbourhoods!
