One of our greatest pride is that BIXI is a local product. Designed by Michel Dallaire, declined in several models by PBSC Solutions Urbaines in Longueuil and manufactured by Cycles Devinci in Chicoutimi, BIXI has been accompanying you since 2009 in your short and long trips across the city.
Speaking of local trips, once again this year, we are pleased to partner with La Ruche, which runs popular buy-local campaigns to encourage Montrealers to support their favorite neighborhood businesses.

As you know, BIXI is an NPO whose mission is to transform the urban experience through active, accessible, innovative and collaborative mobility. When we spoke with La Ruche, which is also an NPO, we realized that all of these words resonate with them, since they want to be human and innovative, while focusing on the people and regions’ proximity.
Currently, La Ruche is active in 9 regions: Québec, Montréal, Estrie, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Mauricie, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Chaudière-Appalaches, Montérégie, Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine, and supports projects that have a local impact by participating in the economic, cultural or social diversification of the region.
With customer proximity, social responsibility and collaboration at heart, BIXI is a natural part of La Ruche’s ecosystem and we can’t wait to see what the future holds!
CycloChrome, a social economy enterprise
We have to give credit where credit is due: we bring the BIXIs to you, but the ones who maintain and repair them are our colleagues at CycloChrome, a social economy school-enterprise specializing in bike repairs that works to prevent school dropouts. We are lucky to count on their expertise: we have 9105 bicycles to keep rolling and some are more than 10 years old!

A hundred BIXI bikes bearing La Ruche’s colors are now waiting for your rides to your favorite local businesses throughout the network. We’re very proud to be riding around the city with these golden fenders, because they prove that our common values (proximity, social responsibility and collaboration) are being put into practice, in addition to marking the presence and growth of La Ruche on the Great Montreal territory.
