Manulife is proud to present, for the second year in a row, Free BIXI Sundays. Thanks to our collaboration with BIXI Montréal, we are offering free BIXI rides to Montrealers on the last Sunday of each month for the entire 2017 season. To take advance of this great offer, all you need to do is head down to a BIXI station and choose the “one-way” option at the terminal, which will be free of charge. One-way trips have a maximum duration of 30 minutes. You can take as many trips as you’d like throughout the day.
What’s more is that to celebrate the first Free BIXI Sunday, we will launch the special collection of 375 Anniversary BIXIs in honour of Montreal’s 375th anniversary. These custom bikes have unique designs and colours and were created by citizens of the Montreal region during the “Montreal, BIXI and Me” project, presented by Manulife. Participants had until January 5, 2017 to submit an original design concept representing the best of our city in their eyes. A panel of judges then selected the 375 winning BIXIs from over 1200 designs. May 28 will not only mark the first Free BIXI Sunday of the season, but will also highlight the day when the 375 beautifully designed bikes will be ridden for the first time in Montreal’s city streets.
The special collection of 375 Anniversary BIXIs will be revealed during a large gathering at Place des Festivals, in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles. Attending the event: Mr. Denis Coderre, Montreal’s Mayor, Mr. Richard Payette, President and CEO of Manulife Quebec, Mr. Alain Gignac, General Manager of Montreal’s 375th Anniversary, as well as Ms. Marie Elaine Farley, Chairperson of the BIXI Montréal Board of Directors. More than 250 people whose creations were chosen will also be present to take part in the parade on Sainte-Catherine Street.
This initiative would not be possible without the close collaboration of Manulife and BIXI Montréal, as well as the participation of a number of city residents.
