In September, Montreal will welcome more than 1,000 athletes and nearly 550,000 spectators for one of the world’s largest cycling competitions. The race routes will result in temporary street closures to vehicular traffic.
To help you get around, the BIXI service will be enhanced.
With more than 120 stations located near the race routes including 17 valet drop-off stations and 3 new carrefours, and a presence at the Fans Village, our teams will be fully mobilized to ensure you can easily find an available BIXI bike or docking station.
During the event, the station map in the BIXI mobile app will remain the best way to plan your trips.

From Montreal to Chambly, a BIXI membership is the best way to experience the World Cycling Championships at your own pace!
From September 13 to 27, 2026, the regular BIXI ride time included in the BIXI seasonal membership and monthly membership will increase from 45 minutes to 60 minutes.
For electric BIXIs, members still enjoy the reduced rate of $0.19/minute, starting from the first minute.

Throughout the event, all of our teams are hard at work to ensure you can get around the city, whether you’re heading to the racetrack or not.
Our dispatch team is monitoring the network’s status even more closely than usual and relaying instructions to the road operations teams, who coordinate the balancing of the BIXI network by removing BIXIs from full stations and bringing them to empty stations, as well as charging the batteries of electric BIXIs.
Our customer service teams (and even our administrative staff!) are waiting for you at drop-off stations and at the Fans Village in Jeanne-Mance Park to help you rent and return your BIXIs, host games, and give you the chance to walk away with exclusive BIXI prizes.

It’s been more than 50 years since the World Cycling Championships were last held in Montreal. And it’s the first time since BIXI was created! That might raise a few questions. We have some answers for you here!
Yes. The BIXI service will remain available throughout the World Cycling Championships, from September 19 to 27, 2026. Measures to enhance the service are being implemented in several areas of the network to facilitate mobility during the event.
In anticipation of the World Championships, BIXI has enhanced its service offerings in key areas to make it easier for locals and visitors to get around throughout the event.
Operations will be stepped up along the Championship routes and in key areas of the network, particularly on the Plateau-Mont-Royal, in Old Montreal, downtown, and around the mountain.
More than 120 BIXI stations are located near the race routes, including 17 valet drop-off stations and 3 new hubs. All teams will be on hand and will adjust their operations based on traffic volume and on-site conditions to ensure that users can easily find an available BIXI bike or docking station.
BIXI memberships will also receive enhanced benefits. From September 13 to 27, members will enjoy 60 included minutes per trip on regular BIXI bikes.
To help users plan their trips, daily maps showing the enhanced benefits overlaid on the Championships’ routes will be available on the BIXI website.
A drop-off station is a BIXI station where valets are on duty to facilitate bike pickups and returns during peak hours. Specifically, they can gather bikes returned near the station to keep docking stations available, while ensuring that bikes are available for use.
There, you rent a bike using the BIXI app and return it to a docking station, just as usual.
During the Championships, depending on the days and race routes, up to 17 drop-off stations will be set up. You’ll be able to locate them in the BIXI app using the dedicated icon.

No. BIXI rates will remain unchanged during the Championships. However, seasonal and monthly memberships will be enhanced. From September 13 to 27, all members will enjoy 60 minutes of riding time included per trip on regular BIXI bikes, instead of 45 minutes.
This upgrade will allow members to enjoy longer rides, whether they’re heading to competitions or going about their daily routines.
Yes. For the Rando Vélo Beneva, a special $10 one-way pass will allow users to ride regular BIXI bikes for 4 consecutive hours. It will be available for purchase on the BIXI app and at BIXI stations on September 19 only. After 4 hours, the standard rate of $0.21/minute will apply. A $100 security deposit is required.
