Privacy Policy Related to the Wealthsimple New Client Offer
Purpose of this Policy
BIXI Montréal (“BIXI”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your personal information.
The purpose of this Privacy Policy (the “Policy”) is to explain how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information in relation to the Wealthsimple New Client Offer, which is offered in collaboration with Wealthsimple (the “Program”). Once the registration process is completed, the Program allows you to receive a credit of one Canadian dollar (CAD$1) in your Wealthsimple account for each BIXI trip completed, up to a maximum of CAD$200, for the duration of the Program. By registering to the Program, you confirm your acceptance of this Policy. If you do not accept this Policy, please do not register for the Program.
Please note that this Policy is applicable in addition to any other BIXI Privacy Policy relating to the use of the BIXI website (the “Site”), the BIXI mobile application, or its services.
Please also note that participation in the Program requires the creation of an account with Wealthsimple, and that the personal information collected by Wealthsimple in connection with that account and the services offered by Wealthsimple is governed by Wealthsimple’s Privacy Policy. This Policy concerns only the personal information collected by BIXI in connection with the Program.
What Personal Information Do We Collect and How Do We Collect It?
In order to participate in the Program, you must complete a registration form available on the Site, in which you must provide your email address. You must use this same email address when creating your Wealthsimple account.
In addition, BIXI collects and has access to all your BIXI trip data from the first day of the month in which you register for the Program.
For What Purposes Do We Use Your Personal Information?
We use your personal information to:
- Activate your participation in the Program and enable you to benefit from its advantages;
- Track eligible BIXI trips under the Program;
- Monitor the CAD $200 credit cap per participant for the duration of the Program;
- Communicate with you as you approach the cap and when you reach it;
- Process any request to withdraw from the Program that you may submit to BIXI, as applicable;
- Internally analyze and document participant behaviour; and
- Any other purpose that we identify from time to time that is authorized by law or for which we obtain your specific consent.
With Whom Do We Share Your Personal Information?
The Program is offered in collaboration with Wealthsimple. BIXI transmits to Wealthsimple on a monthly basis your email address and the number of eligible BIXI trips you have completed during the previous month, so that Wealthsimple can apply the CAD$1 credit per trip in your Wealthsimple account. BIXI also shares with Wealthsimple the cumulative total of your eligible BIXI trips for the purpose of tracking the CAD$200 cap.
In addition to Wealthsimple, members of BIXI’s staff whose functions so require, as well as BIXI’s service providers (for example, hosting service providers) have access to your personal information collected by BIXI in connection with the Program, to the extent that such access is required for the purposes set out in this Policy.
BIXI may also make your personal information available to other third parties in accordance with the application of a law or court order, or in cases where BIXI suspects criminal or illegal activity, such as fraud. BIXI may also disclose your personal information to third parties if necessary to protect its assets or enforce its rights.
Is Your Personal Information Transferred Outside Québec?
The personal information collected by BIXI is hosted on secure servers that may be located outside Québec, including elsewhere in Canada and in the United States. The laws governing the processing of personal information may differ in these jurisdictions. However, BIXI requires privacy commitments from Wealthsimple and its service providers, as set out in the section “How Do We Protect the Confidentiality of Your Personal Information?”
How Long Do We Retain Your Personal Information?
BIXI retains your personal information only for the duration of your active participation in the Program and for a maximum period of six (6) months following the end of such participation, regardless of whether such end results from your voluntary withdrawal from the Program, the closure of your BIXI account, the closure of your Wealthsimple account, or the end of the Program.
At the end of this period, your personal information related to the Program will be securely destroyed by BIXI or permanently anonymized. BIXI may use such anonymized data for serious and legitimate purposes without further notice or consent.
BIXI may, however, retain personal information necessary to comply with its legal obligations.
How Do We Protect the Confidentiality of Your Personal Information?
The personal information we collect or have access to is kept confidential in accordance with applicable privacy laws. Reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures are implemented by BIXI to protect your personal information against accidental loss, theft, and any unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification.
BIXI also puts in place contractual protections with Wealthsimple and its service providers, pursuant to which these parties are obligated to limit their use of personal information to the purposes strictly necessary for their engagement with BIXI. They are also required to implement and maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to preserve the security and confidentiality of the personal information collected under this Policy.
What Are Your Rights?
Under applicable law, you have certain rights, including the following:
- The right to request access to your personal information;
- The right to request the rectification of your personal information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- The right to withdraw your consent to the disclosure or use of your personal information, in certain circumstances; and
- The right to obtain, in a structured and commonly used technological format, the computerized personal information you have provided to us, or to request that such information be transmitted to another person or organization in that same format.

How Can You Withdraw from the Program?
To withdraw from the Program at any time, please contact us by clicking on the “Help Center” tab on the Site, then on the “Submit a request” tab, and complete the form provided. Your withdrawal from the Program will take effect upon receipt of your request. However, the number of your eligible BIXI trips completed prior to the date of your withdrawal and not yet transmitted to Wealthsimple will be shared with Wealthsimple at the end of the month.
